Audley Recreation Centre, Ajax, Ontario

Located in the Town of Ajax the Audley Recreation Centre was constructed as an expansion of the Town’s Sportsplex Park.  The centre is home to a magnificent aquatic centre, fitness centre and community facilities.

The LEED Gold facility required extensive site engineering to tackle the municipality’s goals of a sustainable development.  The project takes advantage of storm runoff by re-using roof and landscape area runoff to supplement the irrigation system.   Irrigation on the park is extensive as it supports the healthy landscaped grounds including six baseball diamonds.  The most recent diamonds being host to the Pan-Am Games baseball competition.   Parking lot drainage is filtered by linear bio-swales prior to being discharged to the site’s stormwater management facility.

EMC technical staff also developed the external sanitary and storm conveyance systems to support the facility.

Working closely with the project Architect and Landscape Architect, approvals from the Town, Region, Conservation Authority, Ministry of the Environment and Canadian Pacific Rail were achieved to meet the construction schedule.
