Subdivision Engineering in the Rutherford Community
The Rutherford Subdivision is situated in the Rutherford Road and Weston Road area of the City of Vaughan, within one of York Region's primary growth corridors. The residential community was developed to accommodate the strong housing demand in the Rutherford neighbourhood, which has seen significant expansion over recent decades with a mix of single detached, semi-detached, and townhome products. EMC Group was retained to provide civil engineering design and approvals coordination for the subdivision infrastructure.
Engineering services encompassed site grading and earthwork management, design of the storm sewer collection system and stormwater management controls, sanitary sewer design with connections to the regional trunk system, watermain distribution design, and road design including curb, gutter, sidewalk, and streetlight coordination. Lot grading plans were prepared to ensure positive drainage for each building lot, and erosion and sediment control plans were developed for all stages of construction in compliance with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and City of Vaughan requirements.
EMC Group coordinated the approvals process with the City of Vaughan Engineering Department, York Region, and the relevant conservation authority, securing all necessary engineering approvals for construction commencement and eventual municipal assumption of the subdivision infrastructure.
